History of our department
Although our department in its present form dates since 1994, its history started in 1949, when the department of Microbiology and Immunology was established in the University Hospital in Pilsen by Assoc. Prof. Vladimír Wagner. During the following years this department was divided and the independent Allergological Unit was established by Assoc. Prof. Vladimír Zavázal, who was active in research and succeeded to discover patients with rare IgD and IgE myeloma proteins (among the first-ones in the world). The independent Department of Immunology and Allergology in the University Hospital and Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen was established in 1994 and Assoc. Prof. Petr Panzner was designated its head. At present time the department consists from out-patient service and immunological laboratory. It performs healthcare, pedagogic and research activities and it comprizes 27 employees.
